Project Management

A project is a temporary endeavor, having a defined beginning and end (usually constrained by date, but can be by funding or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, usually to bring about beneficial change or added value. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while honoring the preconceived project constraints.

The Project Management Office or a Project Office (PMO) is the department or group that defines and maintains the standards and processes related to project management within an organization. Having a PMO allows you to concentrate on core project/program management implementation activities and leave the project support activities to the PMO, thereby focusing on business objectives.

What is a methodology?
A project methodology tells you what you have to do, to manage your projects from start to finish. It describes every step in the project life cycle in depth, so you know exactly which tasks to complete, when and how. Whether you're an expert or a novice, it helps you complete tasks faster than before.

Why do you need one?
As a Project Manager, you need a Project Management Methodology to steer your projects in the right direction and keep them on track. You also need it to help you manage your projects in a structured, repeatable fashion. That way, you can apply the same approach to every project you undertake.

KAPM3 is a Project Management Methodology that explains how to initiate, plan, execute and close projects successfully. It is aligned with PMI® PMBOK® Guide and PRINCE2®. It greatly improves the likelihood of your project delivery on time, within the allotted budget. This methodology can be scaled up to fit larger projects or scaled down to fit smaller projects. It can be applied to projects of any size and any industry/domain in the world. It can also be applied to specific activities thereby adding value to your project. By using the phases, activities, tasks, templates, examples and related topics in KAPM3, you will be empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure a successful project delivery. We help you tailor the KAPM3 methodology to fit your business needs, thereby increasing your business productivity.

KAPM3 includes the following project management processes:

    • Project Management Process   • Issue Management Process
    • Time Management Process   • Tender Management Process
    • Cost Management Process   • Procurement Management Process
    • Quality Management Process   • Acceptance Management Process
    • Change Management Process   • Communications Management Process
    • Risk Management Process

Each project process describes the procedures you would take as a Project Manager, to manage an element of the project. For instance, the Risk Management Process will tell you how to identify, review, mitigate and monitor project risks more effectively. It also describes the roles and responsibilities of each team member, when taking part in project risk management. In addition to providing a comprehensive set of project procedures, for every project management process you will find an example, which gives you a complete practical example of that project process, for a sample project. KAPM3 contains 1700 tasks, charts, tables and examples to help guide your projects towards success. In addition to including an entire project management process, it also contains all of the project management templates, forms and checklists needed.
